Appointment Instructions

No Pressure. No Judgment. Just Support

Before, during, and after your visit, there are quite a few guidelines and instructions. Please review our requirements so that you can arrive prepared.

Here is all the information that will be provided to you if you call to schedule an appointment and that you will need to follow.

Before your abortion appointment:

  • Eat a little breakfast.

  • Shower/bath

  • Dress comfortably and bring a jacket. (NO PAJAMAS)

  • Bring a book or another form of entertainment with you.

Which items must I bring to my appointment?

  • Photo ID

  • Driver (see below)

  • Payment method (see below)

  • Insurance Card (If applicable, see below)

Pets and outside food/drink are NOT permitted during your visit.

How much time will I spend at the clinic?

  • There are numerous variables that affect appointment times. The average visit lasts 3-5 hours. Appointment times may go beyond 5 hours because so many people have to travel to get to services.

Photo ID Requirement: Please bring your driver's license or state ID with you. If a minor does not have either of those, they may bring a school ID. If you do not have a photo ID or do not have access to one, a passport will suffice. If you do not have a passport, please call the clinic so that they can provide you with a list of acceptable alternatives.

Payment: Pricing for services fluctuates depending on the procedure type and pregnancy stage (as determined by an ultrasound performed at the consultation). All services must be paid for in full at the time of your appointment. Cash, credit, debit, money orders, and soon, insurance billing, are the payment methods we accept.

Insurance Coverage: Please check with the clinic to see if your insurance policy covers abortion services if you want to use insurance to pay for your operation. To learn more about ACS's insurance policies, click here.

Electronics: While a patient is within the facility, ACS prohibits the use of electronics. Since taking images of other patients has caused us issues in the past, we now completely avoid the situation at hand. Anything that can take pictures, including phones, tablets, smartwatches, and other devices, is not permitted inside. We advise you to bring a book, crossword puzzles, a journal, or anything else to keep you occupied during your visit.

Driver Policy: Patients undergoing moderate sedation must have a driver. All patients who are 13-16 weeks will undergo sedation along with their surgery; as a result, a driver is required. Since overnight parking is not permitted, drivers must arrive in the same car as the patient. For the length of the patient's visit, drivers are required to have a valid photo ID and stay within 30 minutes of the clinic.

In case a patient is further along in pregnancy than anticipated or decides against getting moderate sedation, we advise that every patient have a designated driver.

Visitor Policy: Patients are required to come to the clinic ALONE for the entirety of their appointment. We need to distribute a lot of material, therefore we'd prefer it if you came by yourself so we could have your full attention. If you are bringing a driver, they will need to remain in the car while waiting. Drivers need to be informed that wait periods may go beyond 5 hours.

Child Policy: Childcare is NOT offered by ACS. There isn't a family area available for kids to wait while their loved ones have appointments.

Patient Forms: The forms that you will need to fill out as part of your visit are listed below. Before your visit, please feel free to browse the following documents.

  • Abortion Procedure Consent (pdf link)

  • Medication Abortion Consent (pdf link)

About Protestors: We frequently see protesters outside our clinic. They carry signs and tend to be noisy. Though they are not permitted on our property, they generally line our sidewalks. We suggest parking in our main lot and try your best to ignore them.
